Question 1

What is HoolyMarket?

Accepted Answer

HoolyMarket is a prediction market where people trade on the outcomes of real-world events: "Economy" and many other topics. An outcome's price — from 0 to $1 per share — shows how likely the market thinks it is. Real people put up the money, so prices react to news quickly — it's the "wisdom of the crowd" in real time.

Question 2

How do markets work in "Economy"?

Accepted Answer

Each outcome is a "Yes / No" question. A share pays $1 if the outcome happens and 0 if it doesn't.

Question 3

What topics can you trade in "Economy"?

Accepted Answer

This section has 12 markets. Subcategories are in the menu on the left: pick a topic to see only its markets with current odds and volume.

Question 4

How do odds work?

Accepted Answer

An outcome's price is its implied probability. If "Yes" trades at 64%, traders on average put the chance at about the same. Prices move with every trade and news story; you can switch the price format (percentages or odds) in settings.

Question 5

Which markets are most active right now?

Accepted Answer

Sort the section by 24-hour volume. Among the most active right now: "Fed decision on October 28?" and "Fed rate after the December 9 meeting?".

Question 6

How do I start trading?

Accepted Answer

Deposit funds, pick a market and tap "Yes" or "No" next to an outcome. Your order fills at the best price in the order book; use a limit order to set your own price.

Question 7

When does a market resolve?

Accepted Answer

The deadline and data source are listed in the rules on the market page. Once a market resolves, winning shares pay out automatically at $1 per share.
